Job Posting: Front of House Manager

 

We are currently seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Front of House Manager to join our team. As the Darke Hall Front of House Manager, you will play a crucial role in ensuring our patrons have an exceptional and memorable experience at every performance.

Darke Hall Society is a not-for-profit, charitable organization that operates the recently renovated historic concert venue. Our programming includes presentations of contemporary and classical music, theatre, comedy, and dance. We are also a rental venue that gives priority to local artists and arts organizations as well as the U of R Conservatory of Performing Arts and the Department of Music.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage the Front of House operations, including ticketing, concessions, and Front of House staff and volunteers, to ensure smooth and efficient processes during performances.
  • Provide excellent customer service to all guests, addressing any inquiries or concerns in a courteous and professional manner. 
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance the overall guest experience, continuously striving to exceed expectations.
  • Train, mentor, and supervise Front of House staff and volunteers to maintain a high standard of service and professionalism.
  • Schedule Front of House staff and approve timesheets.
  • Supervise and schedule custodian.
  • Execute end of day cash-out of bar/concession accurately and securely.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and emergency procedures for the well-being of staff and guests.
  • Coordinate with Technical Director, production and artistic teams to guarantee seamless communication and successful execution of events.
  • Liaise with visiting artists and performers to ensure that their needs are met.
  • Conduct regular evaluations and create improvement plans for the front-of-house operations.

Requirements:

  • Experience in restaurant, bar, retail, or event management required.
  • Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and engage a diverse team.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, handling multiple responsibilities with ease.
  • Outstanding problem-solving skills, resolving issues promptly and effectively.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and customer service skills, fostering a positive and welcoming atmosphere.
  • Knowledge of ticketing software and point-of-sale systems is preferred.
  • Passion for the arts and theatre, with an understanding of the unique demands of the industry.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, occasional days, and holidays, as required by the performance schedule.

Details:

  • Weekly work schedule will vary between 20 and 35 hours per week based on number of programmed events. 
  • Start date for the Front of House Manager position is August 20, 2024.
