Quartet for the End of Time (Quatuor pour la fin du temps), is a quartet in eight movements for clarinet, violin, cello, and piano by the French composer Olivier Messiaen. The piece premiered on 15 January 1941, at the Stalag VIIIA prisoner-of-war camp, in Görlitz, Germany, where the composer had been confined since his capture in May 1940. The work’s instrumentation was determined by the instruments and performers at hand.
CrossRoute is a collective of professional musicians based in Regina dedicated to the presentation of significant chamber music. The group seeks to engage audiences through innovative programming, with a particular mission to explore the music of the 20th and 21st centuries. CrossRoute pursues opportunity to present music that would otherwise miss representation in our musical ecosystem. This performance features Christopher Kaylor, piano, Hyon Suk Kim, clarinet, Christian Robinson, violin, and Simon Fryer, cello.
Tickets are $40 for adults, $35 for seniors, inclusive of fees and taxes. Student tickets are available for free at the door (with Student ID). Seating is not assigned.
