Join us for an evening of remembrance and reflection as we premiere this compelling documentary that chronicles the recent events of OPERATION CALVADOS.
The evening will begin with light refreshments and a wet bar at 6:30 PM. Please be seated in Darke Hall’s beautiful auditorium by 7:30 PM for the screening.
Our documentary film highlights the community initiative that marked the 80th anniversary of D-Day with a statue installation in Normandy and a Tour of Honour for the Royal Regina Rifles current serving members. Follow the statue’s journey from its inception in Canada to its installation in Bretteville l’Orgueilleuse, unveiled by Her Royal Highness, Princess Anne on 5 June 2024.
The film illustrates the essential role of the Regina Rifle Regiment on D-Day and beyond, highlighting its importance to the veterans, their families, descendants, the City, the Province, Indigenous Communities and today’s serving members. Operation Calvados explores themes of memory, sacrifice, accomplishment, commemoration, and education, fostering an enduring legacy to ensure that we continue to honour those from Saskatchewan who served in WWII.
Following the screening, a panel of historians and veterans will offer enriched commentary, providing deeper insights into the film and the stories it tells.
Please RSVP by 1 November 2024 to ensure your seat for the event. Tickets are of no charge but must be obtained in advance at the link below. Note: tickets are limited to 450 attendees.
This initiative could not have been accomplished without your community support and we sincerely hope you will join us for this special event this Remembrance season,
