Presented by the UofR Conservatory of Performing Arts
Showtimes
- Monday, May 12 - 6:30pm
Get ready for three days of singing, dancing, and performing at the Conservatory Musical Theatre Showcase. Students from the University of Regina Conservatory of Performing Arts’ youth musical theatre programs are sure to dazzle and delight the audience with their triple threat status.
Performances on DAY 1 will include the following (in performance order):
Senior Glee (Thursday class) presents BOTS! A New Children's Musical.
Welcome to the BOTS Robotics Competition where teams and their (singing and dancing) robots are all vying for the top prize! Amidst the coding, building, and fierce competition, two members from rival teams befriend one another and throw everything off-balance. Will their collaborative spirit sabotage their teams’ chances of winning? This STEM musical invites humans and robots alike to discover the power of technology and teamwork! Book by Jessica Penzias. Lyrics by Christyn Budzyna. Music by Denver Casado.
Advanced Glee (Tuesday class) presents Anastasia: The Musical (YOUTH EDITION). Her past is a mystery. Her future is an adventure. This is a 60-minute adaptation of the Broadway hit musical about discovering who you are and defining who you’re meant to be. This dazzling show transports its audience from the twilight of the Russian Empire to the euphoria of Paris in the 1920s, as a brave young woman sets out to discover the mystery of her past. Pursued by a ruthless Soviet officer determined to silence her, Anya enlists the aid of a dashing con man and a lovable ex-aristocrat. Together, they embark on an epic adventure to help her find home, love and family. Book by Terrence McNally. Music by Stephen Flaherty. Lyrics by Lynne Ahrens.
These shows are directed by Katlyn Redding and Darby Graham-Rowe, with assistance from Makena Bailey.
BOTS! is presented through special arrangement with Beat by Beat Press (www.bbbpress.com).
