Cecilian Chamber Series - Trio Bohémo
Presented by Cecilian Chamber Series - Rental Event
Showtimes
- Friday, March 13 - 7:30pm
Featuring the international award-winning Trio Bohémo, this concert will be a rare occasion to hear both composers and performers from the Czech lands. Dvořak’s famous “Dumky” Piano Trio is at the heart of their program, where melancholy and
joy are felt in quick succession. In “Moravian Folk Songs”, the performers’ own voices will join the colours of their instruments with traditional melodies from the artists’ homeland by Czech composer Jan Vičar. Framing the program: a Haydn trio overflowing with elegance and wit, and the fiery virtuosity of Mendelssohn’s first piano trio.
Trio Bohémo is an award-winning Czech chamber ensemble known for their dynamic performances and mastery of the classical piano trio repertoire. In 2023 they received first prize for the best interpretation of Joseph Haydn, and the audience prize at the International Joseph Haydn Chamber Music Competition in Vienna. The trio also won third prize and the audience prize at the Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition in Australia, and were awarded three special prizes at the ARD International Music Competition. They have also been recipients of the prestigious Czech Chamber Music Society award.
Other recognitions have included the Gianni Bergamo Award in Switzerland, prizes at the ISA Festival in Austria including best interpretations of Viennese Classical Music and Czech Contemporary Chamber Music, first prize at the International Filippo Nicosia in Italy, first prize and audience prize at the 2021 International Johannes Brahms Competition in Austria, and the International Parkhouse Award in London.
Notable concert venues in which Trio Bohémo have performed include the Vienna Musikverein, Wigmore Hall in London and Stoller Hall in Manchester, UK. They have also appeared in numerous festivals such as the Prague Spring, CZ, Schwarzwald Musikfestival, DE and in Gent at the Festival van Vlaanderen, BE.
